Our History

The De Zinis family dates back to ancient times; arriving from Moravia in 1215, they established themselves in Trentino in the 15th century.
In 1537, Cardinal Bernardo granted nobility to the brothers Giovanni, Antonio and Nicolò De Zinis, commanders in the army of Tirolo.
Later, in 1574, Prince Ferdinando of Austria (September 30, 1560) confirmed the noble title, registering the De Zinis in the record book of the Nobles of Tirolo. On 31.12.1584 in Prague, Emperor Rodolfo II raised Giovanni, Antonio, and sons Pietro and Giacomo to the equestrian nobility of the Holy Roman Empire.

The De Zinis Palazzo, an imposing architectural structure in the Lombardo Venetian style, was built in the early 18th century at Calvagese Riviera, a small rural center set among the hills of the green and sunny Valtenesi (on the Desenzano-Salò road).
The building was designed in the form of an M: the first wing reserved for the Patrician Residence (still gorgeously furnished); the central wing reserved for the living space of the steward and herdsman; the last wing, with overhead haylofts, was used as a barn for cows and horses. The roof, supported by long wooden beams and topped by long lines of tiles in traditional terracotta, forms an attractive ornamental element that blends with the architecture of the countryside.

The imposing form of the large building recalls a Borgo, or village, where dozens of families lived. On the spacious lawn in front of the Palazzo, there has always been a large mushroom-shaped oak with lush green foliage and branches reaching 20 meters.
The Quercia (oak tree) date backs more than 500 years, and in fact, this ancient oak was a point of reference on the military maps of the time, even before the Palazzo was built.
